This Privacy Policy describes how the Food4Thoth I Ching Oracle apps — including Food4Thoth I Ching, Food4Thoth I Ching PRO, and ORNATE I Ching ELITE (collectively, the “App”) — developed and operated by Food4Thoth / Artabillies (“we,” “us,” or “our”), handle your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being fully transparent about our data practices.
- We do not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or store any personal data on our servers.
- All saved readings, preferences, and journal data are stored locally on your device only.
- We do not require account registration, login, email signup, or cloud sync.
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or social login services.
- Photo Oracle images are analyzed on-device and never uploaded anywhere by us.
- The App Store editions are one-time purchases with no subscriptions or recurring charges.
Information We Collect
The App is designed with privacy as the default. We collect no personally identifiable information from within the App. Below is a complete summary of what the App does and does not access.
- Saved readings — Hexagram results you choose to save are stored in your device’s local storage. This data never leaves your device through our systems.
- App preferences — Settings such as animation mode, sound toggle, theme, onboarding state, and notification time are saved locally and are never transmitted to us.
- Photo data — If you use the Photo Oracle feature, the selected image is analyzed entirely on-device. No image data, pixel data, or metadata is sent to any server by us.
- Exported images or PDFs — When you export a reading, it is created locally and saved or shared using your device’s normal system share tools. We do not receive or store a copy.
- Name, email address, phone number, or contact information
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs, IP addresses, or precise location data
- Biometric data, health data, contacts, calendars, messages, or microphone recordings
- Payment card numbers or financial information
- Usage analytics, behavioral tracking, session recordings, or advertising profiles
- Photos, camera footage, reading questions, saved readings, notes, or journal exports
- Any data synced to external servers owned or operated by us
How We Use Information
Since we do not collect personal information from within the App, there is no personal data for us to use, share, sell, rent, analyze, or process on our servers. The App operates locally for core divination, journal, export, and preference functions.
The only processing that occurs is local to your device: a coin toss, manual selection, fractal drawing, yarrow-style process, or selected photo is transformed into an I Ching hexagram. If you choose to save the result, the saved reading remains in your device’s local App storage unless you delete it.
Photo, Camera & Media Access
Some editions include a Photo Oracle and export features. Where available, the App may request access to your Photo Library, Camera, or permission to save media for the following specific purposes.
- You select a photo from your library using Apple’s system photo picker or photo permission flow.
- The App reads the selected image’s color data entirely within your device’s memory.
- A hexagram value is calculated from the image composition on-device.
- The photo is not saved by the App as a separate upload and is not transmitted to any server by us.
- The App only uses the image you select for the reading action you initiate.
- If you choose to take a new photo directly within the App, camera access is requested at that moment.
- The captured image is analyzed on-device in the same manner as a selected library photo.
- No camera footage is recorded in the background, streamed, or transmitted by us.
- When you export a reading as a styled image or PDF, the App may request permission to save that file to your device.
- Only the specific export you create is saved or shared through your device’s system tools.
- No exported reading image, PDF, or journal file is transmitted to any server by us.
You may revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Revoking photo or camera access disables photo-based readings. Revoking media saving access may disable saving exports to Photos. Other oracle methods continue to work.
Notifications
In supported editions, the App can send an optional daily hexagram notification. This feature is off unless you choose to enable it and grant iOS notification permission.
- Notifications are scheduled locally on your device. No notification content is sent to or from our servers.
- The App requests system notification permission only when you enable reminders.
- You choose the reminder time. We do not collect notification delivery data, open rates, or engagement data.
- You can disable notifications in the App settings area or in iOS Settings → Notifications.
Local Data Storage
The App may use standard local device storage to save your readings and preferences.
- Your saved I Ching readings, including hexagram number, method used, timestamp, transformation data, and interpretation text
- Optional notes or journal details you choose to save, if available in your edition
- App preferences such as theme, animation mode, sound enabled/disabled, notification time, and onboarding completion status
- Reading count or similar local-only state used for features such as prompts or in-app display logic
Locally stored App data is never synced to our servers and is deleted when you uninstall the App or use any built-in clear/delete reading controls.
Standard Apple device backups, such as iCloud Backup, may include locally stored App data as part of your device-level backup depending on your iOS settings. This is controlled by your Apple/iCloud settings, not by Food4Thoth.
Third-Party Services
Core divination logic, fractal generation, coin toss simulations, yarrow-style animation, sound effects, journal display, and exports are designed to run locally using bundled app code and on-device functionality.
App purchase, download, refund, and review systems are handled by Apple through the App Store and iOS. We do not receive your payment card information, and we do not control Apple’s App Store account, purchase, or review systems.
- Advertising networks or ad SDKs
- Third-party analytics platforms such as Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or Amplitude
- Social media SDKs, tracking pixels, or social login services
- Third-party crash reporting services such as Crashlytics or Sentry
- Subscription billing systems or recurring payment processors inside the App
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since the App does not collect personal information from any user through our systems, there is no mechanism by which we collect personal data from minors.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the App, please be assured that no personal data has been collected or transmitted to us by the App.
Data Security
Because readings and preferences remain on your device and are not transmitted to our servers, the primary security of your data is provided by your device’s own protections, such as passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and iOS app sandboxing.
We encourage you to keep iOS updated and use a secure device passcode or biometric lock to protect data stored by all apps, including this one.
Your Rights & Choices
You have control over the data associated with the App on your device.
- View your readings — Saved readings are visible inside the App wherever the journal/history feature is provided.
- Delete individual readings — Use the App’s delete controls, if provided by your edition.
- Clear all readings — Use the App’s clear history controls, if provided, to delete locally stored readings from your device.
- Revoke photo or camera access — Remove permission at any time in iOS Settings.
- Disable notifications — Turn off reminders in the App or in iOS Settings → Notifications.
- Delete all App data — Uninstalling the App removes its local data from your device, subject to any Apple/iCloud backup settings you control.
California Residents: We do not sell or share personal information because we do not collect personal information through the App. Any local readings or preferences can be managed directly on your device.
EU / EEA / UK Residents: We do not operate an external personal-data database for App users. The App’s reading history and preferences remain on your device and can be deleted locally by you.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the Effective Date at the top of this page.
Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
