A History of Supremacy and the Struggle Against It

Overview

This digital dissertation traces the persistent and evolving structures of white supremacy in the United States, from the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and the betrayal of Reconstruction to the carceral state and modern resistance movements. It argues that white male Christian supremacy is not a regional relic, but a constitutive, adaptive force shaping law, politics, and identity across every generation.

Alongside this unbroken line of dominance, the project highlights an equally powerful current of resistance—from abolitionists and Black Reconstructionists, through the Black Panther Party, AIM, labor unions, feminist and queer liberation, to Standing Rock, Black Lives Matter, and present-day radical coalitions.
